Alerting Last updated: March 2026

Email notifications are the simplest way to stay informed about the security posture of your Laravel application. StackShield sends well-formatted emails whenever scans detect new issues, resolve existing ones, or when your scheduled digest is due. Email alerts work out of the box with no third-party setup required, making them the default notification channel for every StackShield account.

Features

  • Immediate email alerts when critical or high-severity issues are detected
  • Scheduled digest emails with a summary of all findings across your monitored sites (daily, weekly, or monthly)
  • Multi-recipient support so your entire team receives alerts without sharing login credentials
  • Clear, formatted emails with severity indicators, finding descriptions, and one-click links to remediation guides

Setup Guide

  1. 1

    Verify Your Email Address

When you sign up for StackShield, your account email is automatically configured to receive security alerts. Make sure your email address is verified in your account settings.

  2. 2

    Add Additional Recipients

Go to Settings, then Notifications, and add the email addresses of other team members who should receive alerts. Each recipient can be assigned to specific sites or severity levels.

  3. 3

    Choose Your Digest Schedule

Select how often you want to receive summary digests: daily, weekly, or monthly. Digests include an overview of all findings, changes since the last digest, and your overall security score trend.

Ideal Use Case

Email notifications are perfect for solo developers, freelancers, and small teams who do not want to set up additional tools. They are also a reliable fallback alongside Slack or webhook integrations, ensuring you never miss a critical alert even if other channels are misconfigured. For compliance-conscious teams, email digests provide a built-in paper trail of security monitoring activity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I customize which findings trigger an email?

Yes. In your notification settings, you can filter by severity level (critical, high, medium, low, informational) and choose whether to receive emails for new issues only, resolved issues, or both.

Do email digests include findings from all my monitored sites?

Yes. Digest emails aggregate findings across all sites in your account, grouped by site and severity. You can also configure per-site digests if you prefer separate reports.

How do I prevent StackShield emails from going to spam?

StackShield sends emails from a verified domain with proper SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records. If emails land in spam, add notifications@stackshield.io to your contacts or allowlist the domain in your email provider settings.
